Pricing Excellence
AI's quietest, biggest P&L lever.

Pricing is the quietest line on the P&L and the loudest lever on it. A point of price, held, is almost always worth more than a point of volume won. Everybody knows this. Almost nobody runs pricing as if they knew it.
AI changes the economics of pricing work in a specific way: it makes the expensive parts cheap. Segmentation at the account or SKU level, elasticity testing, competitive position monitoring, deal-desk analysis — the work that used to require a small team of analysts and a quarterly rhythm can now run continuously and granularly.
What AI does not change is the organisational courage required to actually move prices. The analysis has always been the easy half. The hard half is holding the price when the sales team pushes back, defending the discount discipline when the quarter is tight, and letting the system flag the deals that should not be won.
The firms getting outsized returns from AI in pricing are not the ones with the fanciest models. They are the ones who paired a decent model with a pricing committee that actually decides, and a sales incentive structure that does not quietly reward discounting.
The model is table stakes. The discipline is the moat.
The decision: before investing in pricing AI, ask whether your organisation is willing to hold the prices the model will recommend.
